Stromboli Volcano Erupts, Spews Ash and Lava

Tourists fled Wednesday, August 28, as a powerful eruption of the Italian volcano Stromboli sent huge clouds of smoke into the air. The Italian News agency ANSA said the explosion happened shortly after midday. Tourists filmed the eruption and quickly posted the dramatic images on social media. (AP)
